I will never forget my first guitar. It was a Christmas gift from my parents when I was seven years old. Although it was only an inexpensive acoustic guitar from a local store it was the beginning of a journey that shaped the rest of my life and the lives of so many other individuals who God put in my path. That guitar, and the lessons that my parents provided for me, gave me permission to dream big. Maybe I could someday write songs or play on a stage. Maybe I could sing a song for that cute girl in my class and get her to pay a little attention to me (that may have been a stretch but it did eventually work on my wife…). The door was now open for endless possibilities. That first guitar really did change my life. Now, 56 years later, I still play my guitar daily and perform weekly. I love sharing the magical gift, that I first got under the Christmas tree all those years ago, with as many people as I can. It is the best gift that my parents ever gave me and I will never forget it. I cannot thank them enough for the joy that they started in my heart on that life changing Christmas day.
